Holiday Cookies with Essential Oils

Updated: Sep 29, 2023

I love holiday baking. There is something about it that really officializes the start of the holiday season for me. Do you have a go-to cookie recipe that you make each year? I have 4 recipes that are "musts" each year around this time. Want to know my secret ingredient? Yep, surprise, surprise! They all have doTERRA oils in them 😉 Every time I gift them they get high praises - so flavorful and delicious!

Snickerdoodles, Gingersnaps, Chocolate Peppermint and Peanut Butter Cardamom Cookies!

Would you like the recipes? The ingredients vary, but the directions are the same so I’ll share them at the very end. Growing up I never cared for gingersnaps. All of the ones I ever tried were hard and brittle - not what I personally want in a cookie. That all changed when I tried this recipe out! These cookies are soft an chewy with the perfect texture and has quickly climbed it's way near the top of my favorites list.

GINGERSNAPS: ¾ cup butter, softened 1 cup white sugar 1 large egg ¼ cup dark molasses 2 cups all-purpose flour 2 tsp baking soda ½ tsp salt 1-3 drops Ginger EO 1 tsp ground cinnamon Roll Cookie Balls in: 2 TBLS white sugar 2 TBLS ground cinnamon

These Gingersnaps are amazing, look at that texture!

Next up are my kid's favorites - Chocolate Peppermint cookies! These pepperminty delicious cookies are one of Santa's favorites too 🎅🤶 CHOCOLATE PEPPERMINT COOKIES 1 cup butter, softened 1½ cup white sugar 2 eggs 2 tsp vanilla 2-5 drops Peppermint EO 2 cups all-purpose flour 2/3 cup cocoa powder ¾ tsp baking soda ¼ tsp salt

Chocolate & Peppermint, the perfect pair!

Snickerdoodles! The name is fun and the taste is delicious. These are the perfect holiday cookies to gift to friends, neighbors and strangers! SNICKERDOODLES 1 cup butter, softened 1½ cup white sugar 2 eggs 2 tsp vanilla 1-2 drops Cinnamon EO 2¾ cups all-purpose flour 2 tsp cream of tarter 1 tsp baking soda Roll Cookie Balls in: 2 TBLS white sugar 2 TBLS ground cinnamon

These Snickerdoodles will quickly become a family favorite!

Cardamom and Peanut Butter, who would of thought? This combo was certainly not one I would have ever come up with on my own, but it works! These cookies are soft and tasty. If you love peanut butter, you'll love these cookies!

PEANUT BUTTER CARDAMOM COOKIES 1 cup butter, softened 1 cup peanut butter 1 cup white sugar 1 cup brown sugar 2 eggs 1-2 drops Cardamom EO 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 tsp baking soda

The directions for each cookie is the same.

DIRECTIONS: 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. 2. Cream together butters and sugars. 3. Add remaining wet ingredients. 4. In a separate bowl, sift together dry ingredients. 5. Combine wet, dry, and other ingredients. 6. Roll into balls and place on cookie sheet. 7. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes. You can get all fancy and dip them in white chocolate and sprinkles, but I like them simple 🤗 Enjoy!

Enjoy!
