Favorite Valentine Essential Oil Recipes

Updated: Jan 4

Want to spice things up? You don't need to wait for Valentine's day to try these recipes, but since February 14th is coming up fast and we typically associate it with the day of love, I figured it'd be a good time to share some of my favorite oils for intimacy!

Diffusing essential oils is a super easy way to create a romantic atmosphere. Essential oils all have some incredible properties... including some that help set the mood! Our sense of smell is incredibly powerful for accessing the limbic system of our brain and thus can affect our libido. Check out some of these awesome oils for intimacy:

Ylang Ylang has a light, flowery aroma that is known to increase sexual energy, enhance relationships, sexual desire, encourage attraction and supports the circulatory system. It is known as one of the most powerful essential oil aphrodisiacs. Ylang Ylang can help you feel closer to others and help balance out emotions to put you in a place ready to receive and enjoy. Ylang Ylang blends well with other florals, Black Pepper, any citrus oil, Frankincense, Vetiver and Geranium.

Jasmine enhances mood and energy and makes an incredible natural perfume for women. Jasmin is known in India as the “queen of the night” and “moonlight of the grove,” woman have treasured jasmine for centuries for its aphrodisiac properties. It promotes a feeling of confidence, energy, euphoria, and optimism. Jasmine blends well with Bergamot, Frankincense, Geranium, Helichrysum, Lemongrass, Melissa, Wild Orange, Rose, Sandalwood and Spearmint. I personally love it with our Peace® blend - Apply Jasmine to one wrist and Peace® to the other then rub your wrists together!

Cinnamon is a warming oil, the scent is sweet and spicy. It improves circulation and blood flow. Always dilute when using Cinnamon topically, as it is considered a "hot" oil and can create skin sensitivity. If you want to bring some spice to your love life, Cinnamon can help! Cinnamon is a warm, stimulating oil that can do just that! If things are … sluggish, add some cinnamon and get the blood flowing! Blends well with all of the citrus oils, Frankincense, Clove and Ginger.

Ginger is a sweet, warming oil that supports the circulatory system, enhances libido and increases openness in both men and women. This is another oil that you will want to dilute when using topically. Ginger blends well with spice oils, all citrus oils, eucalyptus, Frankincense, Geranium and Rosemary.

Black Pepper is a warming, spicy oil that strengthens circulation. It can stimulate the appetite, literally & sexually, and can increase stamina & endurance. This oil blends well with citrus oils, Frankincense, Lavender, Ylang ylang, Rosemary and Sandalwood.

Rose is good for the heart - emotionally and physically. Rose is a passionate, comforting and harmonious oil. It is one of the most effective aphrodisiac oils and it blends well with Ylang ylang, Neroli and Jasmine. This one is a wonderful personal aroma on it's own or in combination with other oils.

Sandalwood promotes emotional openness and has an exotic, warm, woodsy aroma, making it perfect for men. It has been used historically in meditation and can center the mind in a powerful way. It is also a great tension reliever and calms the body. Sandalwood has a scent similar to male pheromones and intensifies desires when paired with Ylang Ylang. To enhance its aphrodisiac properties blend with Rose or Jasmine. Also blends well with Cypress, Frankincense, Lemon and Myrrh.

Clary Sage helps to balance hormones. It also is deeply relaxing, promotes euphoria, and acts as a powerful aphrodisiac. Because of the hormonal impact, this is a fabulous oil to use all month. We know when mom isn’t stable, nothing fun is going to be happening! Blends well with Bergamot, Juniper berry, Lavender, Frankincense & Vetiver. I do want to note that Clary Sage should be avoided while pregnant unless directed by a midwife/doula at the end of pregnancy.

Neroli is loving, joyous, uplifting & peaceful. It is an aphrodisiac – increases arousal, encourages confidence, courage, joy, peace and sensuality. Blends well with citrus oils, Geranium, Chamomile, Clary sage, Lavender, Rose, Ylang Ylang, Jasmine.

Passion® is a blend of Cardamom, Cinnamon, Ginger, Clove, Sandalwood, Jasmine, Vanilla and Damiana. This oil blend is spicy and sweet and makes an incredible personal aroma - especially when you want to increase libido!
